Jurgen Klopp Opens Up About Wife Ulla’s Unique Role in Liverpool Stay Decision

Ulla Klopp, the German coach’s wife, had a significant part in their choice to stay in England, and Liverpool have signed Jurgen Klopp to a new contract that keeps him at Anfield until 2026.

Jurgen Klopp has said that his choice to extend his Anfield contract was mostly influenced by his wife’s wish to stay in Liverpool.

The German ʀᴇᴠᴇᴀʟᴇᴅ that he and his partner, Ulla Sandrock, had signed a new contract that would keep them in Merseyside until 2026. Klopp was originally scheduled to depart his position with the Reds in 2024, but after prompt negotiations, both parties have agreed to continue working together for an additional two years.

In 2015, Klopp and Sandrock—whom he married in 2005—moved to Liverpool. The couple first met during Oktoberfest in Munich, and as the Reds manager shared the happy news on social media, he made a jest about being a “good husband” for honoring his wife’s want to stay in the north west.

There’s something to announce, he wrote on Liverpool’s Twitter account. Like the previous time, some people will like it and others won’t. If you don’t like it, turn off the TV right away. I remain for a further two years—just me. The most crucial thing, in reality, is that all of my coaches will do it as well. Why? Is the question at hand. Ulla wants to stay, so what are you doing, good husband, when your wife wants to stay? You’re enduring.

The Ulla contract was the most significant contract I had ever signed, continued Klopp. And that’s why it started over because Ulla truly stated, “I can’t see us leaving in 2024” as we sat at the kitchen table. ‘What?’ I exclaimed. That is how it all began, and as soon as it did, I said, “Let’s think about it.”

“When I gave it some thought, it became obvious that I ᴡᴀɴᴛᴇᴅ to speak with Pep Lijnders because he is most likely the cause of it and we have a connection that goes beyond sport. We are currently sitting here because he said, “Oh yes, I’m in,” which made it plain that we are open to any kind of discussions.

With a quadruple still possible, Klopp and Liverpool are on the verge of greatness. The Reds previously won the Carabao Cup, and they are now focused on catching up to Manchester City in the title ꜰɪɢʜᴛ. While they now have a chance to advance to the Champions League final, they will face Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

“There are so many words I could use to describe how I am feeling about this news,” the German stated after agreeing to his new contract. Start with words like delighted, humbled, blessed, privileged, and excited. There are just so many wonderful things about this place. That was something I already knew before I came here, and after I did, it was something I knew even better.

“Like any healthy relationship, your compatibility with one another must always be a two-way street. I originally came here because I felt we were a perfect match, and I’ve extended before for the same reason.
