But that’s where your animal friends come in. Many pet owners have discovered strength thorough their four-legged companions. While they may not be able to speak, they give us reassurance nonetheless through their presence, their cuddles, and their unwavering love. After all, there’s no better listener than your best dog friend. That was a lesson that Vivian would soon learn, although she didn’t know when she brought home a puppy.

In 2011, Vivian’s relationship with her dog, Noah, began when she and her husband went to look at American bully puppies. At first, they overlooked Noah, as he was the runt of the litter and was sitting all alone in corner. The breeder had already decided what to do with little Noah—and it wasn’t finding him a home. The breeder told Vivian and her husband that he was going to shoot the little pup, all because he was too small for the breeder’s liking.

Not wanting to let that happen, Vivian decided to bring the little pup and make him a part of the family. On May 2017, a Facebook post said, “Noah only weighed 4.5lbs at 9 weeks.” But Vivian promised that with time, love, and food, Noah would soon be “a big lovabull hippo who can’t contain his sweetness or cuteness.”

Seemingly wanting to repay the love he was given, Noah was right by Vivian’s side when the next year she had to go through a traumatic surgery. During her recovery process, Noah offered his love and support. As a Marine, it was difficult for Vivian to be housebound due to her physical ailments. She fell into a dark depression, angry that her body had turned on her and unable to accept her situation.

But Noah wouldn’t let Vivian sink under the weight of her circumstances. She was able to register him as a support animal, and together, they began going on adventures with each other.

Vivian has described Noah as “focused, quiet, shy at times, dependable, observant and almost gentleman like.” He has also made a perfect big brother to their new pup, Lincoln.

If you’ve had a dog that has changed your life, tell us all about it in the comments! What do you think of Noah’s story? Don’t forget to pass this along to your friends and family to get brighten their day, too!
