With only £26m, Liverpool can own ‘new Pedri’ at winter transfer

With just £26 million, Liverpool can own the player who is considered the “new Pedri” in the winter transfer window next January.

Liverpool need to upgrade the midfield in the next winter transfer window, when the personnel in hand is not enough to compete for the title. Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both out of contract in the summer along with James Milner.

Meanwhile, pillars like Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho or Elliott sometimes get injured and miss the game. That poses a problem forcing The Kop to find a quality contract for the midfield. According to a source from Spain, the Red Brigade has targeted midfielder Alberto Moleiro on the payroll of Las Palmas.

Previously, Liverpool was entangled in rumors of recruiting Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, Youri Tielemans (Leiceste City) and Moises Caicedo (Brighton). These are all famous players who have proven their ability and 2/3 of the names have experience in the English Premier League. However, Moleiro is a completely unfamiliar face, even to Liverpool fans. The 19-year-old is considered the “new Pedri” with huge potential for growth. He can play on the left wing or as an attacking midfielder.

Spanish newspaper AS reports that Barcelona are very interested in signing Moleiro. Passing ability, ball control and speed are his strong points. In addition, the “new Pedri” also belonged to Las Palmas’ youth training system before joining Barcelona in 2020.

Moleiro’s release clause is around 30 million euros (£26 million). However, this figure could increase to 60 million euros (about 52 million pounds) if Las Palmas win promotion this season. Currently, Las Palmas is playing in the Spanish 2nd division.

Not only Barca, Liverpool also have to compete with Real Madrid and Dortmund in the recruitment of Moleiro. Coach Jurgen Klopp is giving great love to the young talent born in 2003.

The Dutch star has pointed out the best teammate he has played with at Liverpool. Unexpectedly, Mohamed Salah was not the one to be named.

In a recent media sharing session, midfielder Virgil van Dijk pointed out the best teammate he has ever played with at Liverpool . It seemed that the 31-year-old midfielder would choose bright stars like Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane, but he called out a very unexpected face.

The one to be praised is Roberto Firmino. Van Dijk has played alongside the Brazilian striker from the first day he joined Liverpool in January 2018 until now. Together, the two helped Liverpool win prestigious titles such as the Premier League and Champions League.

Van Dijk also had the opportunity to face Firmino when he was still at Southampton. Therefore, the Dutch star admires the talent of his teammate. In a conversation with Pitch Side’s Youtube channel, Van Dijk said:

“At Liverpool, I have to say Bobby Firmino is the best. It’s  very difficult for a defender to limit Firmino’s influence, because he is always deep down and plays like a midfielder who organizes the game.

“I have to say again that Firmino, whether Mo Salah, Sadio Mane or Thiago are all great. It’s a pleasure to play alongside these players.”

Besides, Van Dijk also reveαled the best player in the Dutch team:

“For the national team, I would choose Frenkie de Jong.”

Firmino is not the brightest and most noticeable star in Liverpool’s attack. However, he always contributed greatly to the overall achievement of the Red Brigade.

In this season, when Mane left, Salah dropped in form, Darwin Nunez did not really integrate, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz were injured each other, Firmino was the hope of coach Jurgen Klopp.

After 21 appearances in all competitions since the start of the season, Firmino has scored 9 goals. Firmino’s contract with Liverpool expires in June 2023. The Kop is starting negotiations to keep Firmino at Anfield.
