A retired police dog can’t stop crying after her owner-handler decided to pay her a surprise visit. The heartwarming scene was caught on camera and the netizens’ hearts are melted.
Wangwang ran to meet her handler when she heard the calling.
In Xichuan County, China, Wangwang, an 8-year-old German Shepherd, served as a sniffer dog at security checkpoints. However, the devoted dog retired in June 2019, and she and her handler naturally drifted away. Wangwang’s handler continued to work as a patrol officer while Wangwang was adopted by a loving family. So, when patrolling in the neighborhood where his old fur companion resides last month, he decided to pay her a visit.
It was an overwhelming reunion for both of them.
After retiring, Wangwang was accepted into a new home, but that meant saying goodbye to her manager.
“Police dogs are usually well fed at the training center, but our officers cannot spend time playing or exercising with retired dogs,” said Xichuan police explain.
Wangwang’s hair is turning white but she is well fed, she is getting fat.
In a clip recently shared on Xichuan Police’s Douyin account – China’s version of TikTok – the officer can be seen calling Wangwang from outside her home.
