Sтerling’s faтe at Chelsea rεvealed as Boεhly seт to spliт drεssing room

One of the Chelsea players, RAHEEM STERLING, is not going to be affected financially by the cost-cutting strategies that Todd Boehly has in place.

SunSport reported yesterday that the Blues could be in for some trouble in the locker room as a result of the co-owner’s decision to reduce player salaries in the wake of the club’s elimination from the Champions League.

Wage reductions won’t have an impact on Raheem Sterling in any way.

However, the maneuver is not applicable to each and every member of the squad.

In July of 2016, Sterling inked a deal to play for Chelsea, but this was BEFORE American Boehly demanded that all new contracts have a 30 percent penalty clause.

The club ultimately decided to implement the procedure in order to lessen the emotional impact of being eliminated from the potentially lucrative competition.

However, Sterling and at least one other new player, who is believed to be defender Kalidou Koulibaly, will not take a significant financial penalty as a result of the Blues’ dismal performance this season.

The loss to Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of the Champions League on Tuesday put Chelsea 17 points behind the pace needed to finish in the top four of the Premier League standings and earn a spot in the competition for the next season.

It appears that they will play their first season without European football since 2016, which will result in a significant decrease in earnings.

The impending wage cuts are causing substantial turmoil in the dressing room. Some of the players are paying the price for the team’s performance in Europe, while others are not.

While Boehly struggles to develop a long-term economic plan that is sustainable, the current turmoil at Stamford Bridge is only highlighted by the fact that Sterling has signed a contract extension.

The winger from England was the first major signing made by the new management after they took over in May from Roman Abramovich, who was a Russian businessman.

Sterling was a marquee transfer from Manchester City and was acquired by the club on July 14 for a fee of £47.5 m and a five-year contract.

Koulibaly joined the team a day later on a contract for £35 m over four years. After that, contracts were agreed upon with Wesley Fofana, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Marc Cucurella, and Carney Chukwuemeka.

Following that, Boehly made a record-setting purchase of six senior first-team players in the month of January, bringing the total amount spent on players for the season to approximately £600 m.

The annual wage bill comes to £300 m. With his salary sacrifice proposals, Boehly is shooтing for a reduction of £100 m in that total.

In addition to that, the American is planning to get go of a large number of players during the summer in order to reorganize the vast squad and adhere to the regulations of Financial Fair Play.

It is now possible to sell key players such as Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Aubameyang, Mason Mount, goalkeepers Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy, and even Kai Havertz in order to bring the books into a more favorable balance.
