Following Memphis Depay’s impressive performance at the World Cup, Piers Morgan has urged Arsenal to sign the player, who previously failed to make an impact at Manchester United.
The forward, who is 28 years old, was in outstanding form as the Netherlands defeated the United States of America by a score of 3-1 to advance to the quarterfinals in Qatar. He notched his first goal of the competition with a deft strike from the outside of the penalty area that he used to score the game’s first goal.
And after an impressive performance all around in the match for the round of 16, the player from Barcelona received praise for being a t/h/r/e/a/t throughout the match. One of his admirers is Morgan, a TV presenter who is also an Arsenal fan. Morgan recently took to Twitter in order to provide Gunners manager Mikel Arteta with some transfer advice for the month of January.
On Twitter, the former host of “Good Morning Britain” suggested that Arsenal should sign Memphis in January. Such a capable player who, if placed up front with Jesus, would complement him very well.
Fans of the Premier League will be familiar with the name Depay, as he was acquired by Manchester United in 2015 for a fee of £25 million. After only one full season at Old Trafford, he was shipped off to Lyon because he was unable to live up to the expectations that were placed on him after his move from PSV.

Piers Morgan is of the opinion that a partnership between the forward and Gabriel Jesus is possible.

The forward was able to get back on his feet and establish himself in Ligue 1, where he ended up playing 178 times and scoring 76 goals over the course of his career. As a result of this, Depay was able to negotiate a transfer to Barcelona during the summer of 2021; however, since making the move to Barcelona, he has been dropped from the starting eleven at the club.
Robert Lewandowski and other forwards like Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, and Raphinha receive a significant amount of preference from Barcelona manager Xavi across the front line. Xavi also gives a significant amount of preference to Ferran Torres. And considering that Depay has only played in three games so far this season, his performances at the World Cup could put him in a position to make a significant transfer.

Even though Arsenal has not been linked with the former winger for the Red Devils, Morgan’s speculation may have more merit than it may appear to have at first glance. This is the case despite the fact that Arsenal has not been linked with the player. On Saturday, striker Gabriel Jesus was ruled out for the remainder of the month of January as a result of a knee injury he sustained while playing for Brazil. The injury forced him to leave the match early.
Due to the fact that Arteta’s team only has Eddie Nketiah playing the same position at the moment, adding Depay would give them the much-needed depth that they require in that department. The Dutchman’s experience and prowess up top could be the perfect short-term injection that the Gunners require in order to keep their title challenge alive. This would be because of the Gunners’ need to keep their title challenge alive. In the short term, this is the kind of move that would be implemented.
