Neymar turned sinner, Mbappe had to transform ‘Hero’ to save PSG

Paris Saint-Germain, the team with the best record in the league, defeated Strasbourg, the team with the worst record in the competition, by a score of 2-1 in the round of 16 for Ligue 1.

Kylian Mbappe was able to get himself into the penalty box deep into injury time during the second half of the game when the score was tied 1-1, but he was unable to score a goal. After making contact with it, the ball rolled away due to Marquinhos’ position, which produced the collision. The Brazilian center-back made his way past the Strasbourg defense and then immediately blasted the ball into the net.

Prior to the ferocious reaction from the players on the opposing team, the referee opted to consult the video assistant referee. Marquinhos’s goal was disallowed by Mr. Clement Turpin, but the referee awarded PSG a penalty because Mbappe had been fouled in the prior play.

The French player took a shot from 11 meters away to ice a victory for the reigning champion’s team in the extra five minutes that were added on at the end of the match.

Mbappe was given the nod to lead PSG to victory in their first game following the 2022 World Cup. The French striker played an ᴀɢɢʀᴇssɪᴠᴇ game and had two opportunities to challenge the goalie in the 25th and 41st minutes, but he failed to capitalize on any of them.

Mbappe had a total of 5 shots, all of which were on target, over the course of more than 90 minutes. He was successful in beating the goalie, Matz Sels, although it took him till the second half of injury time to do it.

PSG’s defense came through with a key contribution to break the tie before Mbappe scored the game-winning goal. After Neymar played a pass into the middle of the box, Marquinhos joined the ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋ and headed the ball into the visitors’ net in the 14th minute.

Marquinhos scored the first goal of the game, but he also scored an own goal in the 51st minute, making him the guilty party. After Adrien Thomasson had crossed the ball into play, the Brazilian midfielder made a defensive play that led to the ball being redirected into the net by the home team.

When Lionel Messi was out with an injury, Neymar became the star player for Paris Saint-Germain. The player who was born in 1992 was already moving all over the field to create a link between the midfield and the capital’s “ss” before the opponent committed a string of successive fouls. The Brazilian player still had three passes to complete, which would have given his teammates fantastic opportunities, but they were unable to take advantage.

Despite playing well, Neymar was abruptly dismissed after earning two consecutive yellow cards. Even though he only played 62 minutes, Neymar nevertheless managed to get 7.2 points, surpassing the totals of many other famous players who played the whole 90, such Fabian Ruiz, Marco Verratti, Sergio Ramos, etc.

When the player who had previously played for Barcelona departed the field, the entire front for PSG came to a complete halt. In order for Le Parisien to score their second goal, they had no choice but to rely on sheer good fortune.

PSG emerged victorious and took first place in the contest that took place at Parc des Princes. The team led by Coach Christophe Galtier, which included the players, coaches, and support staff, won their eighth consecutive game overall, securing first position in Ligue 1 with 44 points, eight points ahead of Lens despite Lens having played one more game than their opponent.
