I’d want to say that a dog is a man’s best friend, but it would be too mainstream. Dogs, after all, are much more than just best friends. They are tiny souls, far more loving than you and I have ever been or will ever be to our closest friends, let alone mankind.
A shelter posted a photo of a stray dog on Facebook in the hopes of finding him a new permanent home. The dog with the stunning blue eyes was suffering from mange and was abandoned and filthy.
As soon as the photo of the poor dog went viral, a lady called to say she thought the dog could be her long-lost dog, which had been taken from her backyard two years before.
She was invited to come to check whether the dog knows who she is. The depressed dog’s reaction as the woman approached him can be seen.
The dog was first unfriendly, but after recognizing her face and smelling her, he held her hands and raised up on his back legs to have a closer look. The poor dog, Lord, knows her right away and begins licking and loving her all over!
When Lord arrived at the shelter gate, Harmon began softly saying his nickname, Tootaroota, and the dog immediately put his snout on the ground as though looking for his mother.
“Finally, when I bellowed out “Lord” he ran to the gate and stood at attention,” Harmon said.
And she alsoe heard the lady say
“Let him out because he’s trying to find her.”
The dog was appalled at first, but he took her hand and stood up on his hind legs to take a closer look, after recognizing her face and smell. The poor dog, whose name is Lord knows her directly and starts licking and kissing her all over! It was as if he remembered every minute they had spent together, and the two years apart faded away.
“He couldn’t stop wiggling — oh my goodness — and he just jumped on me”, Harmon said.
“Then he laid his head in my arms and looked me straight in the eyes as if he was saying,
“I gotta see that this is really you.”
Lord is now safe and sound at home with his loving family. Since then, he hasn’t dug another hole.
