Man Utd ace Antony was mocked for diving during Brazil’s World Cup quarter-final against Croatia

Man Utd rival fans lay into Brazil star Antony after appalling World Cup dive – ‘Clown’

After his awful dive during the World Cup, fans of rival team Man United lambasted Brazil star Antony, calling him a “clown.”
During Brazil’s match against Croatia in the quarterfinals of the World Cup, the star player for Manchester United Antony was ridiculed for diving.

Antony, a winger for Manchester United, was called out for an awful dive that he committed during Brazil’s match against Croatia in the World Cup. The 22-year-old player had the audacity to apply for a free kick despite theatrically falling to the ground without any touch from Ivan Perisic. Ivan Perisic did not make any contact with the player.

Even though he waved play on and obviously did not believe the attacker had been fouled, Premier League referee Michael Oliver did not book Antony for simulation even though he did not think the attacker had been fouled. The game continued while Antony continued to protest, but the spectators were quick to make fun of the ridiculous attempt to get a free kick.

The former Ajax player was ridiculed by fans of other clubs, including those of Ajax. Others referred to him as a “clown” due to their opinion that the dive was the absolute worst they had ever witnessed.

The tweet that follows reads, “Antony with the worst dive I’ve seen in a long time, gotta book that.” It was written by @NealGardner.

I just can’t get over how much of a clown Antony is, hahaha. “Abhorrent dive,” commented @JakeSmithbob on Twitter.

@Saweezyy made fun of the situation by asking, “What was the dive from Antony?” while using four crying-laughing emojis.

Other supporters made light of the fact that Antony had just spent three months shadowing the legendary football player Cristiano Ronaldo during his time as an attacker for Manchester United but had already learned a lot from him. Early in his career, Ronaldo developed a reputation for going down too readily in order to get penalties and free kicks. This reputation followed him throughout his career.

The tweet that said, “Antony learned that dive from Ronaldo,” was accompanied by three crying-laughing emojis, which were posted by @SantiiCab_.

Another supporter with the same concept, @T T 2219, also brought in the current United midfielder Bruno Fernandes into the discussion. They made the observation that Antony had already learned to dive from Ronaldo and Bruno.
