Man City face fight to keep Bernardo Silva with future ‘not clear’ as Barcelona circle

Bernardo Silva could be on his way to Barcelona with his Manchester City future up in the air, according to reports.

The Portuguese star has been tracked by Barcelona for some time and was wanted in a £70m transfer last summer.

Bernardo Silva could be on his way to Barcelona

However, this move failed, and fast forward eight months the La Liga leaders are once again set to try and land the 28-year-old.

According to The Telegraph, Silva’s future at the club is “uncertain.”

And Spanish outlet Sport have reported Silva’s intention is to leave the Premier League.

Silva has once again enjoyed a strong season at the Etihad, scoring three goals and adding five assists in 23 Premier League games.

But with the Cityzens falling behind in the title race to Arsenal, Pep Guardiola has reshuffled his tactical layout.

This has seen Silva deployed like an auxiliary left-back, filling in and helping City in buildup from their defensive third.

Despite the change in position, Silva has continued to excel, ranking well in a number of metrics.

These include ranking ninth in the division for progressive carries, 13th in goal-creating actions and 17th for tackles in the middle third.

Silva would likely fit Xavi’s system at Barcelona well, explaining their long-term interest.

However, they will need to pay up the reported £71m asking price (€80m).

Should the Blaugrana fail in their attempts to land Silva, Sport’s report suggests Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are both interested.

Meanwhile, City could replace Silva with Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic.

Man City will have to pay €75m to acquire the services of Brighton & Hove Albio ‘prince’

According to Fichajes, Manchester City will have to pay €75 million to acquire the services of Alexis Mac Allister. Pep Guardiola’s team are keen on adding a new midfielder into the mix. They have been impressed by the Brighton midfielder and are willing to break the bank for him.

The 24-year-old has been quite impressive over the past year. And, his performances have caught the eye of quite a few big clubs from across Europe.

Meanwhile, Mac Allister had an impressive FIFA World Cup 2022. He was one of the stars of the tournament for Argentina. The 24-year-old played an important part in helping the South American giants lift the ultimate prize in world football.

The Brighton midfielder featured in all seven games for Argentina at the mega-event. His performances resulted in a lot of attention from across the globe. And, it seems that he is all set to make a big move ahead of next season.

The 24-year-old joined Brighton in the winter of 2019 from Argentinos Juniors. He was sent out on loan to get match time and prepare himself for the Premier League in the initial days. The Argentina international managed to break into the first team of Brighton after two loan spells at Argentine clubs.

He has become an important part of the Brighton setup over the last few seasons. The 24-year-old has featured in 93 matches for the Seagulls. He has 21 goal contributions to his name during his time at the club. The Argentine midfielder has seven goals in his 21 appearances for Brighton in the ongoing season.

His contract with Brighton ends in the summer of 2025. But, the club have the option to extend it by 12 months. However, it looks like the player is likely to move to a Champions League club in a few months. With more than 2 years left in his contract, Brighton have full control over negotiations and will only sell if their asking price is met.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have shown a lot of interest in the 24-year-old. They are willing to break the bank for the Argentine. Pep Guardiola has a few headaches when it comes to the midfield. The future of İlkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva is uncertain.

Gundogan’s contract runs out in the summer while Silva has been looking for a move to Barcelona for a while now. With City likely to lose out on two of their star midfielders, they are willing to spend big on the Brighton midfielder.
