A group of volunteers witnessed the fantastic tale of a loyal dog who protected his friend at all costs on a typical snowy day in Uzhgorod, Ukraine. Locals claim that one of the dogs was involved in an accident on the train tracks. They’re not sure if the poor puppy was hit by the train, but based on what they’ve seen, she was seriously injured.

An injured dog that apparently couldn’t move off some snowy train tracks was.

Denis Malafeyev, who said he was part of the rescue effort for the two dogs, shared the heartwarming story on Facebook.

He said: ‘It’s such a touching story”

When they arrived, one of the dogs, the female was injured and got stuck in the rails as though the accident paralyzed her. She couldn’t move. So the male dog stayed and never left the wounded dog’s side. He kept her warm and kept her company until help arrived. All the volunteers were in awe of the fantastic loyalty the dog has for his friend.

Panda stayed with her for two days in snowy conditions until they were both rescued.

‘When we arrived, it turned out that one of the dogs, the female, was injured and couldn’t move.

‘I saw a train approaching – and felt sick. The male dog heard the sound of the approaching train, came close to the female dog, and laid down next to her.

A furry friend made sure the other dog, Lucy, remained safe even when trains passed by holding her head down to keep her from getting hit.

‘Both of them pushed their heads towards the ground, and let the train pass.

‘The male dog was doing this for two days in a row. I don’t know what to call this: instinct, love, friendship, loyalty?

‘One thing I know for sure, not all the people would do the same as this.’

He also claimed, the male dog didn’t waver when the trains passed by and stood by his friend. A furry friend came and made sure Lucy remained safe even when trains passed by holding her head down to keep her from getting hit. They also had to struggle with the harsh weather to survive the freezing temperatures of the winter days.

They were later reunited with their owners, who provided proof that they owned the two dogs.

The Uzhhorod, Ukraine, man added in a message posted on Christmas Day that the dog named Panda not only protected Lucy from oncoming trains, he also warmed her as temperatures dropped.

In an update four days later, Malafeyev said the two dogs were successfully removed from the train tracks by an animal shelter.

They were later reunited with their owners, who provided proof that they owned the two dogs.

“The animals are on the mend,” Malafeyev added.
