Liverpool stunned by Yunus Musah’s release fee

Midfielder with €100m release clause to be offered new contract to fend off Liverpool ‘interest’

Former Arsenal midfielder Yunus Musah, now of Valencia, is said to be a target for both Liverpool and Chelsea after starring for the USA at the World Cup

According to reports, Valencia will begin contract negotiations with American midfielder Yunus Musah in order to fighт off interest from both Liverpool and Chelsea.

The former Arsenal scholar made an impression in the 2022 World Cup championships in Qatar, helping Gregg Berhalter’s team advance to the round of 16, when they lost to the Netherlands. The player was born in New York and then moved to Italy and then England.

Musah, who primarily plays in central midfield, joined the La Liga giants in 2019 after declining a new deal at the Emirates. Despite Los Che’s domestic troubles, Musah has thrived on Spain’s east coast. The 20-year-old has subsequently bragged about his athletic and dominant skill set under the direction of manager Gennaro Gattuso after making his debut in 2020 following a season with the reserve team in Spain’s Segunda league.

However, according to 90min, Valencia wants to reward Musah with a new, long-term deal at the Mestalla in light of his recent development and impressive displays in the Middle East this month. The current contract for Musah has a €100 million release clause and is valid until 2026.

The young player stood out during the November 0-0 draw between the United States and England at the World Cup finals, where he played alongside Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie.

Munsah is reportedly attracting interest from Liverpool, his old team Arsenal, and Chelsea, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly in need of midfield reinforcements. On July 1, the Merseyside contracts of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner are all scheduled to expire. As of this writing, there does not appear to have been much progress on any of the three players’ prospective extensions. Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara will also turn 32 and 33 years old, respectively, in 2023.

The Reds are anticipated to be first in line when Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham decides to leave the Signal Iduna Park, despite interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the England international, in addition to rumors of interest in Munsah.

This week, Spanish news outlets claimed that Los Blancos would not jeopardize their financial security by hiring the 19-year-old former Birmingham City scholar because of ongoing renovations at their Santiago Bernabeu residence, which are now anticipated to cost more than €1 bιllion before their opening in 2023.
