After receiving a red card for aggressive behavior against Nottingham Forest, the Manchester City midfielder has been forced to sit out the team’s last two matches due to his suspension.

Rodri was spotted grabbing Morgan Gibbs-White by the neck during their league matchup a month ago, which prompted Anthony Taylor to show him a straight red card and send him off the field immediately.

Despite playing with 10 men, City was able to pull out a 2-0 victory over the opponent, but they have struggled without Rodi and have lost both of their games.

The first one happened during City’s match away from home in the EFL Cup against Newcastle United, where Guardiola may have decided to bench Rodri anyhow. The second one happened when Wolverhampton Wanderers stunned City at the weekend.

The champions’ perfect start to the league season came to an end as Wolves became the first team to defeat City in the Premier League this season. Wolves also ended City’s unbeaten streak in the league.

During the course of the two games, Guardiola utilized all three of the fit central midfield options that he had available to him. At Newcastle, Kalvin Phillips got the starting nod, while at Wolves, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes were the midfielders of choice for Guardiola.

It has been confirmed by the manager of City that Rodri will play on Wednesday in Germany; however, he will be given a few days break before joining the Spanish national team the following week.

This implies that the player will not be traveling or training with the group in the days leading up to their match against Arsenal in North London at the weekend.

The match against Arsenal will be the last one of Rodri’s three-game suspension; following that, he will be eligible for selection again in City’s encounter against Brighton & Hove Albion after the international break. Rodri’s suspension began before the match against Arsenal.

Rodri is going to play the game, and then after he can have a rest, go to Madrid for four or five days before the national team for the international break,” Guardiola stated in his pre-match news conference. “Rodri is going to play the game.” It is required of him.

Rodri voiced his concerns about the well-being of his fellow players at an earlier point in the year, and he was the City outfielder who logged the most minutes of playtime the previous year.

It is reported that the 27-year-old player has informed the club that he will not be able to play the same amount of minutes during this season, especially considering the fact that the European Championships will also take place next summer.

Because Rodri will be playing on Wednesday, Pep Guardiola will not attempt to practice a new formation for Saturday’s game against Arsenal, when the Spaniard will not be present.

However, after a shaky victory on the first day against Red Star Belgrade, Guardiola might want to play it safe and pitch his strongest squad in order to leave Germany with three points.
