Haaland received the first noble individual award at Man City

Having just joined Man City for the first season, Haaland recently had the honor of winning the 2023 Premier League Player of the Year award by the Football Journalists Association (FWA).

On the afternoon of May 12, Vietnam time, Manchester City Club is pleased to announce on its homepage that striker Erling Haaland has officially become the owner of the title “Best Player in 2023” of the Premier League by the Home Association. English football newspaper (FWA) voted.

The Norwegian striker dominated the poll of 400 FWA members when he received more than 80% of the total votes in favor. Haaland will follow in the footsteps of teammate Ruben Dias (2021) and former star Raheem Sterling (2019) to become the next Man City player to have the honor of receiving this award.

In addition, the Norwegian international also became the fourth player to be honored by the FWA in his first season playing in England, after Ruben Dias (2021), Gianfranco Zola (1997) and Jurgen Klinsmann (1995).

Speaking after winning the award, Haaland praised Man City, head coach Pep Guardiola and the coaching staff and teammates for helping him a lot to adapt to the new environment, thereby achieving today’s results.

“Winning the FWA award in my first season with English football is an honor. I strive every day to be the best I can be and being recognized with individual titles means a lot to me.

My teammates are phenomenal, they always give me a chance. I want to thank them all, I wouldn’t have won this title without them. I owe a lot to Pep and the people behind the team. Everyone has been very nice since I joined. I have never worked with such top professionals.

Joining Man City in the summer of 2022, Haaland has broken a series of records in English football so far. Including 35 goals in 34 league appearances, b r e a k I n g the previous record of 34 goals held by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole for the most goals scored in a Premier League season. The above achievement also helped him to win the title of Top Scorer of the tournament in his first season playing for Man City.

With 51 goals in all competitions, Haaland also broke the record for most goals scored in a single season in all competitions by an English Premier League player, surpassing Mo Salah in 2017/18 and Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2002. /03, both scored 44 goals.
