A tear-jerking video shared by The Watsonville (Calif.) Police Department has been gone viral. It’s about a Watsonville man named Gary being reunited with his emotional support dog, a Doberman pinscher named Arrow.
According to the Watsonville Police Department in California, officers had been alerted that Arrow, an emotional support dog, was lost. Initial searches, however, turned up no sign of the pup.
Man bursts into rears as cop reunites him with Missing Dog.
Arrow was reported missing on Sept. 19 by his distraught owner. Gary had little hope of being reunited with Arrow, who is Gary’s emotional support dog. He was feeling really bad, cause he felt like he wouldn’t see Arrow again in his life.
The Watsonville (Calif.) Police Department made some initial searches but found no of the puppy. However, the officers recognized a woman who had found Arrow and brought him home a few days later.
Seeing Gary’s reaction made it all worthwhile.
“We were able to go back and look at camera footage from around the area [of Arrow’s reported disappearance],” Watsonville Public Information Officer Michelle Pulido tells Daily Paws. “From that, we were able to identify a woman who had taken the dog home.”
From there, it was only a matter of time before the woman was identified through interviews with residents in the area, and Arrow was recovered.
“There was nothing but tears of joy,” the police department wrote of the reunion. “These are the moments we live for.”
Gary’s broken heart was suddenly healed. In the video posted to the department’s Facebook page, Officer Angel Hernandez holds Arrow’s leash as Gary comes out of his home and the tears begin to flow.
“Thank you, Angel,” Gary says in the video, taking the officer by the hand. “What a beautiful man you are.”
The video has just brightened lots of people who get to see them on the internet. They can also serve as ways to bridge the space between police departments and the public they live and work with.
