De Jong ‘green light’, Man United is about to complete his goal

After many unsuccessful negotiations, the Frenkie De Jong deal to Man United is now making good progress.

As previously reported by the Daily Mail, Manchester United is poised to return to the Frenkie de Jong deal, with reports saying Erik ten Hag has seen the 25-year-old as a key target for the summer transfer window.

Last summer, De Jong seemed to have become a member of the Red Devils after they reached a financial agreement with Barcelona. However, the Dutchman ultimately decided to stay with the Catalan giants. Therefore, the deal later fell through and many people had run out of imagination about the prospect of Ten Hag reuniting with his former student at Ajax.

De Jong wants to go to Man Utd

However, recently De Jong is said to be ready to sign for Man United after Ten Hag’s side beat Barcelona in this season’s Europa League play-off round. According to talkSPORT, De Jong is also interested in the prospect of being paired with Casemiro in MU’s midfield next season. Playing in the UEFA Champions League arena is also an important factor in choosing a new stop for the 25-year-old midfielder.

In the context that Barcelona is under new pressure in the salary budget. This can cause the “Catalan giants” to sell off their players and Frenkien De Jong is also a name that is likely to leave.

Barca is facing a lot of financial difficulties.

At the moment, De Jong and Barcelona’s contract runs until 2026 and the Dutch international will earn around £78m over the final four years of his contract after he agreed to a restructuring to help the club minimizes the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sportsmail reported today that Barcelona will have to raise £178m from the sale of existing players if they want to stand a chance of being involved in next summer’s transfer window. The Nou Camp home team’s financial problems have been well documented and now they face a race to get the necessary funds in time.

Man Utd has the plan to replace De Jong, Bellingham with only €30m

Manchester United are expected to sign more midfielders after this season with question marks over the futures of Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay.

Even Fred has only signed a one-year extension option, while United need a younger midfielder to ease the pressure on Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.

Asking to borrow Marcel Sabitzer is a possibility, but Man Utd can also dream of Jude Bellingham and Frenkie de Jong.

The opportunity for Man Utd to sign Kone.

Another possible option is Borussia Moenchengladbach midfielder Kouadio ‘Manu’ Kone. Manchester United were linked with Kone by Footmercato in 2021 while playing for Toulouse.

Last year L’Equipe reported that United continued to monitor Kone during his time in the Bundesliga. Kone continues to show strong with 21 starts for Gladbach this season. The French star has an excellent skill set just like De Jong. He is averaging 92% of correct passes in his own half this season, with 2.7 tackles per game.

The central midfielder is only 21 years old and has very bright prospects. Notably, Fussball Transfers reported that Kone could be allowed to leave this summer for only 30 million euros.

This is a very affordable figure for a player whose value is expected to skyrocket over the next five years. Owning Kone, Man United will have an additional backup plan for Casemiro’s position as they prepare to strain in many arenas next season.
