Frank McAvennie thought that David Beckham would be the ideal candidate to lead Manchester United.
In an exclusive interview with Football Insider, the former West Ham striker cited Beckham’s success at Inter Miami as evidence in his favor.
The Glazer family made a statement last week seeking more investment in the form of a share of the Manchester club or to рurchase it altogether.

On November 23, sources informed this website that the Red Devils are preparing a world-record price for a sports franchise that might cost potential bidders as much as £8billion.
Rio Ferdinand confirmed on his FIVE podcast (27 November) that Beckham, who is currently a part-owner of American club Inter Miami, could be forming a group to рurchase the Premier League giants.
When asked if a former footballer may be the ideal owner for United, McAvennie told Football Insider, “I believe Beckham has a passion for the sport.”
“He has the best intentions in mind. I believe he enjoys football. He will form a consortium with highly wealthy individuals.
“I believe it would be advantageous for him to return to Manchester United because he loves the club and would have its best interests at heart.
“All he would care about is ensuring that the manager gets what he needs on the field. He would let the other businessmen to manage the club, but David would be responsible for all football-related matters.
“I believe this is the reason why Inter Miami is successful. I do not believe David has enough money to acquire Manchester United. We are discussing billions, at least five or six for Manchester United. They are the world’s largest retail club.”
