Another remarkable feat added to Cristiano Ronaldo’s resume is that he is now the first player in World Cup history to score in each of the tournament’s first five iterations.

Ronaldo, who just recently had his contract with Manchester United terminated, was Portugal’s captain when they kicked off their World Cup campaign against Ghana.

In the first half of the match, the captain of Portugal had a goal disallowed. However, in the 65th minute of the match, he won a controversial penalty after going down under a challenge from a defender for Ghana.

After stepping up to take the penalty, Ronaldo knocked it past Lawrence Ati-Zigi and then brought back his SIUU celebration after he had wheeled away from the ball.

Ronaldo scored his first World Cup goal, also a penalty, against Iran at the 2006 tournament held in Germany. At the age of 37, he is still finding the back of the net despite the passage of time and the fact that his first World Cup goal came some 16 years ago.

Andre Ayew, a striker who formerly played for Swansea and West Ham, scored the goal that brought Ghana even with Fernando Santos’ team in the 73rd minute. Ghana had been a difficult opponent for Santos’ team.

Joao Felix, a star player for Atletico Madrid, quickly regained the lead for Portugal with a beautiful dinked finish. Shortly thereafter, Rafael Leao scored his first World Cup goal and made it 3-1 in favor of Portugal after Bruno Fernandes provided a second sublime assist.

Osman Bukari cut the deficit with a header at the far post, and instead of grabbing the ball and sprinting back to the halfway line for the restart, he proceeded to make fun of Ronaldo’s SIUUU celebration.

After scoring an incredible goal from a long range during the warm-up, Ronaldo, who is currently without a team to play for, appeared to be in a serious good mood.

Then, during the pre-match singing of the national anthem, Ronaldo let his emotions get the best of him, and he broke down into tears.
