On Monday night, Brentford prevailed over Liverpool by a score of 3-1.
Jamie Carragher has advocated for Liverpool to spend a total of £200 million during the summer on the acquisition of three new midfielders and to provide financial support to Jurgen Klopp. On Monday night, the Reds were defeated by Brentford in a performance that highlighted their primary flaws. The final score was 3-1 in favor of Brentford.
After Ibrahima Konate scored an own goal and Youane Wissa assisted on another goal, Liverpool went into the halftime break trailing by a score of 2-0. The goals were scored by Youane Wissa and Ibrahima Konate. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored a goal in the 50th minute to cut the deficit in half, but after that they had a difficult time creating many scoring opportunities.
In the 84th minute, Brentford was rewarded for their efforts when Bryan Mbeumo tucked in a third goal by switching to a more defensive style and hitting the Reds on the counter. Carragher was blunt in his appraisal of the team after the performance, which emphasized the facт that the Anfield outfit are in need of a makeover.
After the game, he gave an interview to Sky Sports, in which he stated the following: “When you look at the age profile of a lot of the players within the squad, they’ve got a lot of players in their 30s or coming into their 30s who’ve been great for the club, but that is one of the reasons why the ownership is up for sale, or they’re looking for investment, because Liverpool are going to need to go big in the summer.”

When you consider how much money Chelsea and Manchester United spent over the summer, and how far away they are from winning the league championship, you can see what kind of financial resources are required to compete at the top of the Premier League. Every year, Liverpool has either sold someone or bought someone new, but I believe that this is a situation in which Liverpool needs to invest approximately £200 million right now.
“I’m not suggesting that in terms of that being the key to success – there are many of clubs who have proved that doesn’t necessarily work – but I would argᴜe that Liverpool needs to buy anything from one to three players who can play in the middle of the field. Although not all of them are expected to participate, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, and even James Milner no longer have contracts with the club.

“The age of Thiago, who is injured quite a bit, Henderson, and Fabinho, I think Liverpool needs three midfield players, and when you’re talking about reaᶅ quality, you need to spend at least £40-50 million on those types of players, I would imagine,” said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. “The reason for this is that Thiago is getting injured quite a bit.”
Since the beginning of the current season, Liverpool has been linked with a multitude of midfielders, and an approach for the outstanding player at Borussia Dortmund, Jude Bellingham, is anticipated to take place over the summer. Moises Caicedo, a playmaker for Brighton, and Matheus Nunes, who plays for Wolves, are both admired by Chelsea, while target Enzo Fernandez is inching closer to making a move to Chelsea this month.
