Argentina goalkeeper has ‘unbelievable action’ when Messi nets emphatic penalty

Argentina goalkeeper Emi Martinez was unable to watch Lionel Messi take a penalty in the World Cup semi-final against Croatia.

Messi tied France’s Kylian Mbappe for the tournament’s joint-top scorer with an impressive spot-kick to put the Albiceleste ahead.

Messi’s penalty attempt was unstoppable.

Martinez, on the other hand, did not notice it.

It was the legendary forward’s fifth goal and fifth penalty in Qatar, including the shootout victory over the Netherlands.

Despite his miss against Poland, the 35-year-old has scored four goals.

Martinez, on the other hand, was too afraid to look.

The Aston Villa hero, who stopped two spot-kicks in the quarter-final shootout win against the Netherlands, was pictured with his back to Messi as the superstar braced himself.

And, despite diving correctly, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner hammered his penalty into the top-right corner, leaving Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic with little chance.

Martinez jumped to his feet in celebration after hearing the reaction of thousands of Argentina fans in the crowd.

Because of the big Argentina presence in the stands, he knew right away.

Soon after, Manchester City attacker Julian Alvarez extended their lead with a superb solo effort.

Despite Messi’s heroics, Alvarez earned the penalty by pulling a foul on Livakovic.
